Understanding Labour Market Data

Employment rate: The proportion of working-age people (16-64) who are in work. A higher rate means more people are earning wages.

Unemployment rate: The proportion of the labour force (those working or actively seeking work) who are unemployed. This excludes those not looking for work.

Vacancies: The number of unfilled job positions. High vacancies alongside low unemployment can indicate a tight labour market with upward pressure on wages.
